While many families prepare for the holiday season, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing a plan that will limit fuel choices and unnecessarily increase the cost of power generation for families across the West.

What does this mean for your family?

The increases in these costs would cut into family budgets across the United States, reducing the money available for holiday gifts and festivities and for traveling to spend time with loved ones.

WASHINGTON – Proposed new mandates from the federal Environmental Protection Agency would take a big bite out of household budgets.

That’s the dirty secret of EPA’s Clean Power Plan. It would result in double digit electricity price increases for consumers in the vast majority of states, according to research by NERA Economic Consulting. In 14 states, the increases could surpass 20%!

The timing couldn’t be worse, with many families still trying to get back on their feet after the Great Recession.

On Tuesday, October 21, Ross Eisenberg of the National Association of Manufacturers jumped on the line with Keep Electricity Affordable supporters for a telephone town hall to discuss how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan would affect consumers in the West.
